President Akufo-Addo says government has been able to ensure the safety of Ghanaians amidst Covid-19 due to its implementation of life-saving innovations.
"We pioneered life-saving innovations that the WHO has since sought to replicate elsewhere," he said during his final State of the Nation address on Tuesday.
President Akufo-Addo was emphatic that although pandemic has trembled economies over the world, Ghana has, however, been not felt so much impact due to measures taken by the government.
"Over here in Ghana, our first priority in fighting the pandemic has been, and will continue to be, the health and safety of our citizens," he added.
According to the President, Covid-19 granted a chance for the government to fix outstanding problems in the health fraternity over the years thus, upgrading district hospitals and establishing new ones where they do not.
He added that government has also been able to revamp the National Health Insurance Scheme as well as created jobs for 95,000 health workers in the public sector.
President Akufo-Addo also used the platform to urge Ghanaians to observe the Covid-19 protocols since 'the pandemic is still with us'.
