President Akufo-Addo has commended the former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, describing him as one of his government's finest ministers.
He said Dr. Akoto has performed beyond expectations since his appointment as the Minister for Food and Agriculture in the last four years.
"Today we celebrate a great man; a man I have known over the last 50 years. When I appointed him as the Minister for Food and Agriculture, I had no doubt at all that this man I describe as my bosom friend will be able to deliver. Now the evidence is clear for everyone to see," he noted.
The President, made these remarks when he joined the former Minister and revelers to celebrate a belated birthday party and New Year Jamboree in Kumasi.
He stressed the laudable policies the Food and Agriculture Ministry had put in place to transform the sector which was practically crawling on its knees before 2017.
"Today, we have a vibrant agricultural sector thanks to Owusu Afriyie Akoto and his commitment to transform this sector for the benefit of all Ghanaians, particularly millions of farmers in the country," the President emphasized.
The President also prayed for the former minister, asking the Almighty God to grant him and his family good health and guidance in all their endeavours.
"I feel proud to be associated with my good friend, Owusu Afriyie Akoto."
The former Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, is 72 years of age this year.
Dr. Akoto said he was deeply humbled by the tribute paid to him by the President and pledged he will continue to do everything humanly possible to fulfill the vision the President has for Ghanaian farmers.
He commended the President for giving him the opportunity to serve Ghanaians under his government.
