The Ghana Stock Exchange Fixed Income Market its second highest monthly performance ever, as both teh stock and bond market continued their bullish run this year.
The Accra Bourse has been so attractive contrary to previous years, as investors continue to show interest in the market.
According to figures from the exchange, the Accra Bourse continued its impressive run in February, gaining 8.57% to bring the year-to-date return on the stock market to 13.36%.
Market capitalization of the firms listed on the stock market also shot up by about 3.29% to GH¢57.1 billion.
MTN Ghana was the best performing stock as it share price grew by 28 percent, trading above its public offer price of 75 pesewas per share.
44.50 million shares exchanged hands in the month of February, valued at a little above GH¢35 million. Despite the decrease in month-on-month performance, the cumulative value traded was equivalent to a little above GH¢104 million.
On the other hand, the bond market registered trading volume of GH¢15.15 billion as liquidity remained high.
The Government of Ghana bond accounted for GH¢12.1 billion, about 80% of the total debt traded.
