The Director of Operational Intelligence of the Defence Intelligence Department of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Isaac Amponsah has listed in detail the weapons he alleges were seized or found on premises occupied by the alleged coup plotters.
This includes five locally manufactured guns, 22 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), foreign made pistols with magazines, one revolver, three smoke grenades, three locally made pistol barrels.
Col. Amponsah continued, “We found the IEDs hidden in car tires at the Citadel hospital, blacksmith machines used for the manufacturing of weapons. We also conducted a search in Dr MacPalm’s house near Dodowa and we found 63 live pistol ammunitions.”
He also gave some information about how the other accused persons were arrested.
“We also made Awarf to call Ezor and ask him to come to the Citadel Hospital. Ezor came and he was also arrested. Then we asked Awarf to call Allan Deborah and he indicated that he was near the DVLA office at 37 so we drove there and picked him as well. All of them were sent to BNI headquarters together with all the exhibits.”
Corporal Awarf Sule is a soldier tasked to infiltrate the ranks of the alleged coup plotters with the aim of recording their meetings. Ezor and Alan Debrah are part of 10 persons standing trial for the alleged treason.
Colonel Isaac Amponsah is the state’s first witness in the case He was led by Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame to testify. The case has been adjourned to June 9 for continuation.
