In the 2016 edition, Portugal overcame the odds to beat France 1-0 in the final and clinched the coveted trophy for the first time in their history. They are now back with another set of talented players with the hope of defending their crown.
Fernando Santos’ side surprisingly placed second in Group B of the qualifiers behind Ukraine, earning 17 points. But, they were excellent offensively, scoring 22 goals in eight games whilst conceding just six.
Hungary had a tougher road, placing fourth in Group E. They managed to win the Playoff path A to book their place in the showcase.
Portugal to win fairly easily
The Portuguese side come into this tournament with a relatively stronger squad than they had in the 2016 triumph. Cristiano Ronaldo is as always, the leader of this team with the likes of Bernado Silva, Joao Felix and Ruben Dias among others to support.
Hungary have also lost a budding talent in Szoboszlai due to injury which will no doubt hurt their chances of winning the game.
The game is likely to produce goals from both teams with Portugal scoring the lion’s share. Going for over 2.5 will serve investors well.
The odds
Portugal are huge favorites for this one with their odds priced at 1.46 by Betway whilst Hungary have their odds of winning priced at 7.11. A draw has been priced at 4.26.
