Gospel musician, Ceccy Twum, has stated that many churches in Ghana are hesitant to help up-and-coming Gospel artistes.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Friday, she explained that many of the Gospel artistes have stopped attending and supporting the churches that projected them to fame.
Citing an example, Ceccy Twum revealed that she and her husband supported a young artiste who abandoned them after finding his feet in the industry.
"We rented a house for him, we took care of him but he is no more with our church. We were doing everything possible to get him up there. In the end, he was asking the church to pay him more than what we gave him," Ceccy Twum added.
The 'Aseda' hitmaker said that although in Nigeria, some churches, through their ministry, set up music labels to unearth talents, such moves can hardly happen in Ghana
Ceccy Twum stated that, "check the number of people Pastor Chris has helped who are still with his church and check number of people in churches in Ghana, who are still with the churches that helped them?"
She emphasised that it has been the culture of many up-and-coming gospel acts in Ghana, to stop attending churches that helped them the moment they hit the limelight.
The Gospel Singer said that musicians should therefore, not be disappointed if their churches decide not to help them.
"We go to church to serve God, you must know God for yourself, the church doesn't owe you anything, if they decide to help you that is fine," Ceccy Twum added.
