Music duo Keche say they were extremely happy to pick their first Vodafone Ghana Music Award at the 22nd edition of the ceremony.
According to the group, they were not eager to retire from music without an award to show for their hard work in the music e industry.
Speaking to JoyPrime’s Ibrahim Ben-Bako, Keche Andrew stated that he once told his colleague Keche Joshua he was dreading the answer to give his kid if he asked about the awards they’ve won to show for the work they did in their active years.
He stated that “with Ghana music awards, we’ve been looking forward to the group of the year award all these years...so it means a lot to us since this is our first time.”
Meanwhile, Keche Joshua said he was emotional when he got on the stage since it was their first award after breaking through the industry with their hit song ‘Sokode’ in 2011.
“‘Pressure’ was a big hit, ‘Sokode’ came, ‘Aluguntugui’, ‘Body Lotion’ and ‘Diabetes’ were also hit five years in a row but we won nothing. I am very grateful to God and the fans. Thank you for supporting Keche.”
Keche took home two awards at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award. On the first night, they won the Group of the Year award.
They also took home Hiplife Song of the Year with their hit song ‘No Dulling’ featuring Kuami Eugene on night two.
On his part, music producer and CEO of Highly Spiritual Music Kaywa said he was happy to see the duo pick up their first award on June 26.
He said that “throughout this very year, they have done pretty well, I mean great songs, great performances out there, and I just knew that their time was up.”
“I was just telling them that all these years they have not won an award and I am sure it was bothering them, but God knows the right time when He releases his blessings for his people and I am very excited to be here to witness their first award.”
