A convoy made up of an advanced security team of Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has been involved in an accident leading to the death of the Police outrider.
The team was headed to Wa to await the arrival of the Speaker. Upon reaching Konongo, a vehicle allegedly run into the convoy killing the rider instantly.
According to Kate Addo, who is head of Public Affairs at Parliament, Mr Bagbin was not affected, as he is in Accra.
The rider, identified as Chief Inspector Abednego Kaakyire died on the spot after his motorbike collided head-on with a Nissan Sentra vehicle.
Eyewitnesses say, the driver of the Nissan Sentra with registration GT 2173-21, hit the rider during an attempt to overtake an articulated truck ahead of him on the Kumasi-Nkawkaw section of the Kumasi-Accra road.
