The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited has conducted a character-building training workshop for the over 600 Junior High School (JHS) students of Sakumono School Complex One.
Last Friday's session forms part of the subsidiary of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company's efforts to fulfil its Corporate Social Responsibility mandate under Education.
The training program, which was under the theme, 'The Coca-Cola Unearthing Greatness Workshop', got implementation support from LeadAfrique International, a non-governmental organisation.
LeadAfrique International, a non-governmental organisation, focuses on cultivating creative and responsive leaders for Africa.
Together, the two collaborated to unearth greatness in pre-teens and teens of Sakumono School Complex One by equipping them with relevant life skills for their daily self-improvement.
The day’s training was heavily centred on Understanding oneself and Goal-setting, as these areas were considered critical to the self-development needs of the students.
The Corporate Affairs Director of ECCBC-West African Countries, Bethel Yeboah, said the company decided to undertake the initiative on realising there was the need for society to pay attention particularly to the personal development of teens.
He said they are concerned most of the participants were at a stage in their lives where they were puzzled about life, uncertain with decisions about their future and continue to question their self-worth.
To comply with Covid-19 safety protocols and effectively manage the training sessions, students were put into groups, and the entire workshop was executed within two hours.
These interactive sessions were accompanied by practical lessons where all participants were provided with training manuals to enhance their understanding of the various subjects covered.
The company is set to deploy this training program in another school within its catchment area of Tema West in September 2021.
