The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) says she has petitioned anti-graft agencies to investigate the misappropriation of some GH¢1.7 million of party funds.
Janet Asana Nabla wants the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to investigate the party's 2020 flagbearer, David Apasera and Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, about their role in the alleged misconduct.
On August 28, the PNC Chairman announced the suspension of Mrs Nabla over some alleged cases of misconduct.
They said she is acting in her personal interest and not in the party’s interest.
But, this decision has been challenged by Janet Nabla and other top executives of the party.
In her response on August 29, the embattled General Secretary insisted that the move forms part of an attempt by the duo, to cover up some shady dealings in the party.
She cited the withdrawal of money from the party's account without her knowledge and being sidelined by the two, in her petition to the state agencies.
This debacle led to the chaos that erupted at a press conference at the party's headquarters on Wednesday, where PNC’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Bala Maikankan, stormed in to demand an explanation regarding the General Secretary’s suspension.
In what seems to be protracted wrangling, the embattled General Secretary has petitioned the party’s National Executive Committee to impeach the two officials, Mr Baah and Mr Apasera.
But Chairman of the PNC, Moses Dani Baah, has denied the allegations levelled against him.
He claims the GH¢1.7 million was used to fund the party’s 2020 election campaign.
