The Accra Regional Police Command has indicated that investigations into a shooting incident that occurred at the Apenkwa Traffic Light on September 20, are under way.
According to the Police, preliminary investigation revealed that two men on a motorbike shot a victim, while he was returning from the bank.
The Police stated that they gathered evidence that a gunshot had been fired upon reaching the scene, after receiving a distress call at about 3:00pm.
The robbers succeeded in taking away an amount of GH₵29,000 from the victim, the Police said in a press statement signed by the DSP Juliana Obeng.
"The victim who sustained gunshot wounds, was transported to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment," they added.
Meanwhile, the Police have called on the public to remain calm and assured of their commitment to ensuring the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime as soon as possible.
"The Police further implore support from members of the general public to provide relevant information leading to the arrest of the robbers," the statement added.
