President of the Coalition of Muslim Organisations Ghana (COMOG) has said Ghana would set a precedence for other countries to follow if the anti-LGBTQI+ bill is passed successfully.
According to Abdul Manan Abdul Rahaman, the passage of the bill will encourage other countries in the world who, for some reason, do not have the courage to embark on such a bill.
He said the country's ability to draft a legal framework for the passage of the bill puts it in the spotlight and that all must support, to ensure it is successfully passed.
"The whole world's attention is on Ghana. Because of that, we are urging Ghanaians that this struggle is not child's play because the success of this exercise will embolden some other countries across the world to also embark on a similar exercise," he said.
He said if the bill is passed into law, it will be one of Ghana's best decisions in its history.
Mr Abdul Manan made these pronouncements at a seminar for various Muslim groups on LGBTQI+ in Tamale over the weekend which was to sensitize the Muslim Ummah on the understanding of the promotion of proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family bill 2021, and the threat to Islam in Ghana.
It was also to educate the Ummah on the mental health and understanding of LGBTQI+ activities in Ghana.
The COMOG president expressed worry over what he said is the seed of discourse been sown by people backing LGBTQI and the international media in its bid to create confusion among the leadership of faith groups supporting the anti-LGBTQI in Ghana, citing a report on CNN.
"Such countries are pouring misinformation, they are sending out financial materials and they are sending out spies to spy on our MPs and our religious leaders to ensure that this thing does not happen.
"Recently the CNN reported that the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Philip Naameh alleged that this exercise will instead encourage Muslims to overtake Christians in terms of numbers, something intended to create confusion between the two regions", Abdul Manan added.
The COMOG president said the international world is doing everything within its power to cow the country's leadership and urged Ghanaians to push for the bill's passage.
Alhaji Abdul Manan said one of the objectives of COMOG is to set up a rehabilitation centre in the Tamale Metropolis to offer support services to LGBTQI+ who will need it.
He called for support for members of the LGBTQI+ Bill and urged people not to hate them. Adding that, he believes with the right support and counselling, they can be transformed.
He commended the MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George the MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, and the former MP for Tamale Central, Inusah Feseini, for coming out boldly to support the passage of the bill and encouraging other MPs to do same.
The Chairman for the occasion, Yakubu Seidu Abdul Rahaman, said promises of aid by foreign investors are only used to trap the leaders in the country and get them to disregard promises made by promoters of the LGBTQI+ agenda in the country.
According to him, in most situations, they fail to fulfil promises made after achieving their aim.
"They may promise Ghana $2.5 billion or $10 billion for a 20 years development plan, how many of that have they given?. A lot of the promises are never kept. In the international world, they make promises to help people in war-prone areas, and they don't deliver", he added.
