Communications director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has hinted to JoySports that the Association seeks to take further action against Safa for their allegations against the GFA and Black Stars.
Following Bafana Bafana's 1-0 defeat to the Black Stars which saw South Africa lose out on a place in the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Safa leveled scathing accusations of match-fixing and bribery against the GFA.
After holding a press conference attended by Safa president, Danny Jordaan, Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos as well as captain, Ronen Williams and defender, Rushine De Reuck - who was adjudged to have brought down Daniel Amartey in the penalty box, Safa lodged an official complaint to FIFA.
Almost three weeks later, FIFA's disciplinary committee dismissed Safa's compliant, terming it as 'inadmissible'.
“The protest lodged by South Africa has been declared inadmissible by the Disciplinary Committee as it did not meet the requirements foreseen under art. 46 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and art. 14 of the Regulations of the Preliminary Competition of the FIFA World Cup 2022," FIFA said in a statement.
Following the response, reports from South Africa suggest that Safa were going to proceed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to petition the verdict.
In light of Safa's petition and FIFA's response, GFA's communications director, Asante Twum has told JoySports that the association has been impaired by Safa's 'ungrounded' accusations, and as a result will seek further action once FIFA release full details of their verdict.
"The protest which was filed by South Africa had no grounds/legs to stand on. There were other details that the disciplinary committee will release hopefully. When we receive that full verdict, that will inform us with regards to the next plan of action.
"Because aside the protest, we felt that the name of the FA was battered and badly bruised by the South Africans. The insults and the castigations and allegations that were made against us, we felt were unfounded and frivolous," Asante Twum said to JoySports.
Earlier in response to FIFA, the GFA asked for punitive measures to be taken against Safa for the inability to support their accusations with evidence.
"It is very clear that after the match in Cape Coast, the South African Football Association had no reason or evidence to file any protest within the regulations of the competition and up to the time they wrote the letters to FIFA, they still did not have any reason or evidence to give to FIFA.
"Consequently, we therefore call on the respected FIFA Disciplinary Committee to dismiss the purported protests with a punitive fine and a huge cost," the GFA said.
Per Asante Twum, the GFA are waiting on FIFA to release full details of their verdict before taking a decision on their next line of action against Safa.
However, FIFA earlier stated that it wields the right to withhold details of its decision.
"The judicial bodies may decide not to communicate the grounds of a decision and instead communicate only the terms of the decision," FIFA said in its decision statement.
