Ghanaian fans of the English Premiere League club, Arsenal, spent their Christmas extending a hand of benevolence to some underprivileged children at an orphanage in a remote community of Anwia-Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.
Under their charity project, ‘Feed a Child’, the group, known as Arsenal Supporters Club Ghana (ASC Ghana), presented a cheque of ¢6,000 to the ‘Save Our Lives’ orphanage.
It is the sixth time the supporters are extending a hand to the underprivileged.
The donation is part of the group’s quest to exemplify the ethos of Arsenal Football Club, which is credited for its support to the underprivileged.

The Ashanti Region branch of ASC Ghana made the presentation on behalf of the national body a day before their club faced Norwich in the English Premier League, which ended 5-0 in favour of the Gunners.
In a statement, the leadership of ASC Ghana praised members for their selflessness and desire to reach out in style typical of the club itself.
Arsenal Football Club is noted for giving back to society with its famous Arsenal Charity Foundation.

The orphanage was founded by one retired nurse and midwife, Madam Paulina Opei, about 28 years ago.
She decided to open the orphanage to help kids who lost their parents through tragedy.
At the moment, they have 52 kids, with the youngest at one. Four of the children who used to be at the Home have completed their tertiary education and are currently doing their National Service.

She won the MTN Heroes of Change Season II in 2016 and used her prize money to build a school for the home, which is open to other children in the community.
