Ghanaian Striker, Jordan Ayew, has contracted the coronavirus disease, according to Joy Sports.

Joy Sports' George Addo Junior confirmed this in a tweet on Sunday, March 20.

"He's out of Crystal Palace vrs Everton this afternoon despite being named in the Squad," he added.

According to reports, the Crystal Palace Forward is likely to miss the first leg World Cup play off between Ghana and Nigeria slated for Friday, March 25.

The much-anticipated game will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

On Tuesday, March 22, the Black Stars will travel to Kumasi. The team will commence training on Wednesday.

On Thursday, there will be official training at the stadium where 15 minutes of training will be opened to the press. Also, there will be media engagement with Coach Otto Addo and the players at the Kumasi Sports Stadium Media Centre.

But five days to the match and Ghana is yet to release their squad for the clash with the Super Eagles towards the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, the acting Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, has assured the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghanaians that the Baba Yara Stadium will be ready in time for the Black Stars’ crucial 2022 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

On the other hand, the Parliamentary committee tasked to probe the Black Stars’ abysmal performance in the 2021 African Cup of Nations, has completed its work.

Speaking in Parliament on Friday, Mr. Afenyo-Markin, however, noted that the Committee has decided to hold on to its report.

According to him, this is because of the Ghana vrs Nigeria match.

“Mr. Speaker, I’m reliably informed that the work given to them is done. Except that Mr. Speaker, there is a Ghana-Nigeria match. A very crucial match and the Committee in its wisdom is of the view that, that match should be played in peace and all matters be discussed later.”
