Some social media users on Twitter have expressed their views and support for a campaign launched by government to raise awareness for public vigilance, following threats of terrorism in the sub-Region.
The ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign seeks to get Ghanaians highly alert so they can report suspicious characters to ensure the nation is protected.
In view of this, people have been encouraged to join in fighting possible terrorist attacks by creating peaceful, lively and secured communities across the country.
At the launch on Tuesday, May 24, the Special Advisor to the President, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, called on the citizenry to get involved in efforts being made by the government and the security agencies.
Any person who notices anything unusual about the security situation, should inform the various agencies by dialing 999 (toll-free) or using any of the security agencies’ phone numbers or social media handles.
Below are some reactions on Twitter:
This #SeeSomethingSaySomething campaign in the midst of security mistrust will be a big threat.

My prayer is that, it is not used to target and needlessly arrest people.
On a normal day, an informant can't trust the men in uniform.
I only have to mind my business. #JoySMS

There have been growing concerns of terrorist activities within the Subregion with almost all neighbouring countries reporting cases of terrorist attacks. Ghana would not be safe from such attacks if we don’t take pragmatic measures. #999ForTerrorism#SeeSomethingSaySomething pic.twitter.com/vIP00z7tmb

We always do not hear from the Ministry of National Security when issues arise but I must commend them this time around for creating the awareness program as we need to fight terrorism on all fronts . #999ForTerrorism#SeeSomethingSaySomething

A lot of times, we wait for things to happen before we actually remember that oh we saw this, meanwhile we could have tipped it off to the police before the harm was done. Let’s all try and report anything suspicious #999forTerrorism #SeeSomethingSaySomething
