The leadership of the Local National Union of Ghana Students (LNUGS) of the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Asante Mampong Campus, held an Inter-senior High School quiz competition among the four public senior high schools in Asante Mampong catchment area.
The competition was to expose them to Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics, STEM. The initiative was led by Bridget Bansah, NUGS President for AAMUSTED-Mampong.
The objective of the High School Quiz competition is to promote the study of sciences, engineering and mathematics and also to promote healthy academic rivalry among Senior High Schools in the Mampong municipality.
Again, the Local National Union of Ghana Students (AAMUSTED-Mampong chapter) intends to use the competition to strengthen the existing bond of friendship among the competing schools and the host University.
The schools that participated in the quiz were Amaniampong Senior High School, St. Monica's senior high school, St. Joseph Seminary senior high school and Nsutaman Catholic senior high school.
After a contest of five rounds, St. Monica's SHS emerged the winner with 51 points, Amaniampong SHS was second with 46 points, Nsutaman Catholic SHS was third with 33 points and St. Joseph Seminary SHS had the fourth position with 25 points.

The winning school received a cash prize of GH¢500.00, a certificate for the contestants, the school, and a certificate for securing the first position.
They also received customised NUGS exercise books and T-shirts.
The school with the second position also received a cash prize of ¢300 with a certificate for the contestants and the school, customised NUGS exercise books, and T-shirts.
The 3rd school received a cash prize of ¢100.00, a certificate for contestants and the school, customised NUGS exercise books and T-shirts.
The fourth school which is St. Joseph Seminary Senior High School also received certificates for the contestants and the school, customised NUGS exercise books and T-shirts.
St. Monica's Senior High School was congratulated for winning the maiden edition of the NUGS Inter-senior High School quiz competition and also the participating schools.
NUGS President for Appiah Menka University for Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, Bridget Bansah, in a congratulatory message believes that the platform can be leveraged to promote the business of science and engineering.
“The crux of this competition is that aside from it improving healthy academic rivalry among the competing schools and the promotion of STEM education, as the NUGS President of my institution, I think I must create that learning platform for students within this jurisdiction, who we look forward to seeing in higher education in the future. This is imperative,” she noted.
