The head coach of Nsoatreman Football Club, Boniface Ayipah, says he has no problem stepping down as the coach of the team ahead of their maiden Ghana Premier League campaign and has promised to support anyone who comes in to take charge.
Mr. Ayipah led the Nsoatre-based club to the top flight after beating Tamale City Football Club in the Division One League playoff, which took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, June 21.
With promotion now secured, many were looking forward to the gaffer leading the team in the Premier League. However, Mr. Ayipah's current coaching license does not permit him to handle a top-flight club as the head coach.
The head coach confirmed he does not have a CAF License A certificate and will look to support anyone who comes to take charge should he fail to get the needed qualification before the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
“I don’t think it’s a problem [to step aside for someone to take over]. I already know about that. All that was required was to qualify the team [to the Premier League] and that is exactly what I did,” he told Joy Sports.
“Any other person who comes and I’m around, I’ll give him my utmost support. I will support him with 100% and we achieve [glory]."
Asked about his desire to pursue a CAF License A certificate, the coach added: "That is not something that is up to me because it’s up to CAF[who will have to organise the course] and if they do that today, I will definitely go in for the License A. I can not go for the license myself. I learnt they will [organise a new course] soon, so I’m waiting."
Nsoatreman joins Samartex and Kotoku Royals to have secured Premier League promotion from the second tier at the end of the 2021/22 season.
