Ace producer Appietus has revealed that he charges not less than GH¢5,000 when an artiste chooses to work with him.
Speaking on Showbiz A-Z on Saturday, he explained that hiring the services of a producer is expensive because they work long hours and hand over their intellectual property to the musician.
Appietus told the host, George Quaye, that the charge however increases depending on what the artiste may want.
He explained that some artistes can pay as much as GH¢10,000 depending on the work that goes into the production, how long it takes to make the beat and many other factors.
“If you have like GH¢5,000 going, you can work with me. It takes talent to put a beat together. It is very expensive because now I am giving you my intellectual property and it is going to make you who you are,” he noted.
He explained that producers put years of practice into making great beats for artistes which, in turn, can boost their careers.
“When you give a piece of cloth to a tailor to sew and you watch them, you see it as easy but when you're given the cloth, you can't do it. This is years of practice, experience and becoming better. So, this is the base fee.”
Appietus added that GH¢5,000 is what he usually charges up-and-coming artistes who are yet to make a name for themselves in the industry.
