Gifts can be reclaimed after breakups, but T&C apply

A relationship counsellor, Dr. Tony Adoasi has shared that it is acceptable for an individual to ask for a gift to be returned after a break up with a loved one depending on the magnitude of the gift.

Speaking on Prime Morning, he stated that certain gifts could be retrieved if they were bought with a loan.

Dr. Adoasi explained that if the money was borrowed from the bank, then the bank would have official ownership of the property until the money is completely paid, then the ownership could be transferred to the actual owner.

“So having given the car to the lady, you have not transferred the ownership to the lady because you have not finished paying, in that case you can claim it” he mentioned.

Still on the issue, Dr. Adoasi quizzed “… because how do you pay for a car that you bought for a lady where you cannot even find her?"

He also acknowledged on the show that gifts are given out to loved ones with no intentions to be taken back unless the relationship appears to be hitting the rocks.
