Black Galaxies head coach, Annor Walker, says Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's red card against Sudan in their second group game at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) is unfortunate for the team.
The forward was marched off in the 90th minute of the game for a reckless challenge on his marker, an event brought back by the VAR.
Prior to picking up the red card, Barnieh had scored from the spot to give Ghana the lead while he also had another goal ruled out for offside.
Speaking at the end of the game, Walker said it's unfortunate they will be without the 21-year-old for the next round but he is optimistic he will have a replacement available.
"It's unfortunate Afriyie Barnieh got the red card. He's one of my top strikers," he said.
"But I came with 25 players so I will have a replacement to play in the quarterfinals stage and after that, he can be in action."
Ghana is expected to get three points from the last game against Morocco, with the latter pulling out while they will have to wait for the result between Madagascar and Sudan to know their faith.
