President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has presented food items and cash towards the funeral of the late Yagbonwura, Suleman Tuntumba Bore Essa I.
The gesture which was done by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, through the Savannah Regional New Patriotic Party Executives, include a cash amount of six thousand cedis and 20 bags of rice including a jerry-can of cooking oil and two bags of maize.
The rest are packs of assorted drinks and fifty bags of sachet water including a bag of dried cassava.

The items were received by the Sonyowura Adamu Bakari Kanyiti and his followers at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
In presenting the items, the Savannah Regional NPP Chairman, Professor Kalmonia Iddrisu Suleman, said President Akufo-Addo, on behalf of the party, has donated the items to assist in the upkeep of the Regent and his subjects towards a successful funeral rite of the late Overlord of Gonja.
According to the NPP Regional Chairman, "Our father, the President has given these items to your son, Abu Jinapor, and for us to present to you as part of the party's condolences on the demise of our great king," Prof. Kalmonia indicated.

He said the party has not forgotten about all the key contributions made by Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I towards the development of Gonjaland and beyond.
On his part, the Regent, Sonyowura Adamu Bakari Kanyiti, commended the President and the NPP Executives for their kindness and contribution towards their upkeep, and for the funeral rites.
While recounting the relationship between the NPP government and Yagbonwura Sulemana Jakpa Bore Essa I, Sonyowura Adam Bakari Kanyiti stated that, “we know and appreciate that it is under the NPP that Gonja became a separate Region and therefore, Yagbonwura becoming the President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs. So, we really appreciate that and that alone is a legacy that will remain forever,” Sonyowura said.

The Regent also used the occasion to inform the delegation about preparations towards the three days ‘adua’ which falls on Friday 9th February 2023 at the Jakpa Palace.
Among the delegation that presented the items were the regional and constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party and some party stalwarts.
