A content creator Samuel Barimah Amoaning has been chosen as part of the social media influencers to create awareness about Covid-19 vaccine among youth.
The blogger will join other young and vibrant influencers who will use their platforms to educate their followers especially the younger generation about the essence of the covid-19 vaccine.
The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a communicable respiratory disease caused by a new strain of Coronavirus that causes illness in humans.
Ghana’s first case of Covid-19 was announced on March 12, 2020. The President established a COVID-19 Coordination Unit and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to coordinate the response.
Ghana was the first country in Africa to receive COVAX vaccines in March 2021 and in March 2022, USG announced an additional $24.7 million in surge Covid-19 support under the Initiative for Global Vaccine Access (GVAX).

Ghana is at a significant turning point in its vaccination campaign as it’s been established that young people are not taking the vaccine.
As of May 2022, 160,000+ cases confirmed, 27.7% of 22.9 m fully vaccinated (19.9% of total population); 29.2% partially vaccinated in Ghana.
There is currently a low and stifling Covid-19 vaccine uptake among youth that are 15-24 years and younger due to vaccine hesitancy and skepticism.
The purpose of the Accelerating Social and Behavior Change (ASBC) Covid-19 Social Media Campaign is to challenge all young people between 15 to 24 years of age, including all persons in or out of school, from primary to University.
Samuel Amoaning and his fellow influencers will create and post approved content within the ASBC brand guidelines on their social media pages to engage followers and encourage them to go for the jab.
