Music they say feeds the soul regardless of who you are or where you are from.
From palm oil sales to being a music star, talented singer and mother of two, Gladys aka (Rich Glad) "wowed" the judges of Joy Prime’s music reality show, Cues and Lyrics with her incredible voice.
Hailing from Denkyembour District in the Eastern region of Ghana, she has been nurturing her musical talent since elementary school.
Gladys intensified the grooming of her singing skills after receiving positive remarks from a neighbour that she is a great singer.
In the quest to realise her dreams, the vocalist joined a live band at an early age to develop her potential with the aim of breaking through.
But she never got the opportunity to prove her worth to the band and the world after joining.
So, she quit starting a palm oil business since she was not making ends meet from music to be able to cater for her children.
The mother of two said, "I joined a live band at age 14 for survival, but stopped three years ago to start a palm fruit selling business to take care of myself and my kids."
Despite her knowing that she is a talented singer, she became more enthused after discovering that God is a music lover.
Throughout the pursuit of her musical goals, she recorded some demos and attempted to gain help from music producers or talent managers, but to no avail.
"I’ve recorded some songs seeking help to promote them. So I prayed to God to grant me a helper. But before I recorded the demo, I used to meet people who requested help if only I had a demo. However, I haven’t chanced on anyone since I recorded one," she said.
Fast forward, and the singer finally got the opportunity to showcase her stunning vocals at the Cues and Lyrics auditions held on March 31, 2023.
Upon seeing the show’s advert on Adom TV, she believed it was her breakthrough time, as she had a revelation concerning the particular date the audition will start.
Well, with her exhilarating voice, is she qualified for the best 12 contestants for the maiden edition of the Cues and Lyrics music show?
Keep tuned in to the Joy Prime channel as the final 12 selected contestants will be unveiled on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 8 p.m.
The Cues and Lyrics music talent show aims to inspire talents like Gladys and others to be creative in their quest to become music stars.
A cash prize of GH¢50,000, a recording contract for two singles, airplay worth GH¢30,000, and a trip to Dubai await the best of the best.
