The Kingdom of Morocco hosted the African Ministerial Conference on Youth on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
The event was done with a high-profile attendance of African Ministers of Youth.
In accordance with the edict of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aiming at strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and brotherly African countries in order to foster the emergence of African youth, this conference organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication had as a major objective to strengthen and consolidate the empowerment efforts of African youth.
This is to be done by promoting significant participation of this category in the conduct of the social, economic and political development agenda of Africa.
During his speech on the occasion, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication highlighted the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco for the implementation of the African Youth Charter, while reiterating the commitment of the Kingdom as to the strengthening of South-South cooperation at the centre of the foreign policy of Morocco, under the leadership of the Moroccan King.
The Minister also emphasized the need to reconsolidate the place of the Pan-African Youth Union in the continental decision-making bodies, in order to carry the voice of African youth and provide real solutions to the problems of African youth.

For his part, Moumouni Dialla, President of the Pan-African Youth Union expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for the warm welcome given to the participating delegations and the living and working conditions offered to them while paying tribute to the Sovereign for his leadership in favour of African youth and stressing the importance of the projects initiated in order to take care of the expectations of the African youth.
The President of the Pan African Youth Union also recalled the importance of the ratification of the African Youth Charter which aims to protect young people against discrimination and guarantees them freedom of movement, speech, association, religion, property and other human rights, while committing to promote their participation in society.
Highlighting the importance of the Pan African Youth Union as a continental body advocating for the establishment of sound public policies for African youth, the African Ministers participating in this ministerial conference as well as the heads of delegation stressed the need to preserve this institution and to further enhance its contribution to continental decision making.
Also, the representatives of the participating delegations expressed their thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King MOHAMMED VI for his unfailing royal commitment to the promotion of the conditions of African youth.
It should be noted that this ministerial conference is attended by 100 young leaders, representatives of National Youth Councils, civil society and African youth platforms.
