The Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko has moved to the defence of the players amid their poor form in the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League season he admits the club 'cannot win every year.'
Having won the Ghana Premier League last season, the Porcupine Warriors were tipped to be the key contender for this campaign's title as well.
However, the transfer of some key players as well as managerial changes has led to a massive dip in the performance of the team as they are far off their best and struggling to secure a top-three spot on the league table.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Nana Yaw Amponsah admitted things have not gone as they wished for but it is normal for such things to happen.
"We will continue to fight until the end. The bottom line is that we cannot win every year," he said.
"Hearts won the league two years ago, last season they were sixth. We won last year [but] this season we are struggling. That is the nature of sports. So for us, we will continue to fight till the end."
Kotoko currently sit sixth on the Ghana Premier League table having taken 44 points from 30 games with four more games to go until the end of the season.
They find themselves eight points behind league leaders, Aduana FC, who are on 52 points after the same number of games played.
