King Faisal have been relegated from the betPawa Ghana Premier League despite picking up all three points in their weekend game against Legon Cities.
The Kumasi-based side's relegation to the Division One League was confirmed on Sunday, June 3, with other results not going their way despite a win in their penultimate game of the league season.
King Faisal have 39 points from 33 games so far with one more game to go until the end of the season. However, their poor head-to-head record against teams they were fighting with means they join Kotoku Royals as two of three teams to know their fate ahead of the final day.
Having seen the Ghana Football Association extend the league to 18 teams to resolve ongoing legal battles at the time with King Faisal and Great Olympics, the former have survived relegation twice by a whisker.
Despite being relegated, the Insha Allah lads still have a chance to finish the season with a trophy after making the FA Cup final.
They reached the MTN FA Cup final after a 3-2 win over Nsoatreman and will face Dreams FC on June 18.
