Egyptian giants, Al Ahly claimed a record-extending 11th CAF Champions League title, with a hard-fought 3-2 aggregate victory over defending champions Wydad Casablanca.
In what was a thrilling game at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca, the hosts Wydad, began the more purposeful side, threatening the Ahly goal with a couple half chances.
Sven Vandenbroek’s side were rewarded for their early pressure when Moroccan defender, Yahia Attiyat Allah nodded home after 27 minutes to give Wydad the lead.
The goal gave the home crowd the needed boost and silenced the away fans who were drowned by the electrifying atmosphere at the Mohammed V Stadium.
Wydad held on to go into the break 1-0 up on the night and 2-2 on aggregate, although with the away goal advantage.
However, Al Ahly came out of the break a completely different side, and dominated the early embers of the second half. The Egyptians came close a couple of occasions, first through Percy Tau, before Mohammed Abdulmomen also hit his effort wide.
There was however no denying Abdulmomen a few minutes later when he headed brilliantly from an Ali Maaloul corner to level it for the away side.
At Ahly dug deep and help on, despite a late surge from Wydad in search of the equalizer.
It was not to be for the hosts as Ahly claimed sweet revenge to lift the title yet again.
