Six U7 boys and girls picked medals on Day 1 of the Junior Olympics ongoing in Kumasi.
The Junior Olympics is a brain birth of the Legon Creative Athletics Club, and this is the second edition.
It is targeted at imbibing the spirit and culture of athletics right from infancy.
There were participants who travelled all the way from the USA.

Deon Vanhorne took gold in the U7 60m dash.
Sendy Osei Tuffuor finished with silver, while Nathan Tetteh Mensah took bronze in the boys' event.
There were only two athletes in the girls' event.
Nana Verna picked gold, while Imani Nimako finished with silver.

For the boy's U-10 100m, it was Asante Brown who led the field to pick up Gold.
"I already knew I was going to be first because I race my friends and always win," was what he told Joy Sports.
Meanwhile, the U20 girls' and boys' long jump finals also took place.
There were eight heats for the U16 boys and girls 100m, with the finals scheduled for Day 2.
Alongside other events, the U20 boys 4x100m heats and final as well as the U20 200m heats and 400m heats will take place on June 17.
