The police inspector charged with murder for shooting his girlfriend in Kumasi says he is not guilty as he is committed for trial at a high court in July.

Ahmed Twumasi of the Kumasi Central Divisional Command has been on a provisional murder charge following his arrest at Oyoko near Effiduase two months ago.

The married officer who was keeping a girlfriend, made his third court appearance to a hostile court made up of relatives and friends of his late girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah.

Inspector Twumasi during his committal proceeding this morning at Asokore Mampong District Court angered relatives of the deceased when he told the court he is not guilty.

The prosecution told the court they are ready for trial.

They presented exhibits and original copies of reports on the case to the court ahead of a high court trial on July 13.

It has been a hard time for police as they struggled to whisk the suspect away after the court hearing.
