An unbroken determination to move from deficit to dominance.
That’s the story of contestants of Tolon Senior High School who made a historic win for their school after beating Kumbugu Senior High School and Dagbon State SHTS to qualify for the national tournament for the first time.
The students who trailed their contenders with negative five points at the end of the second round proved their resilience and won the contest with eight points.
The students could not hold their tears after breaking the over 20-year jinx.
The contestants resolvedly overturned the competition in the third round by answering almost all of their questions correctly to nullify the negatives.

In a close contest, the three schools successively beat one another by a one-point margin.
Kumbugu Senior High School came second with 7 points while the Yaa-Naa’s of Dagbon State SHTS garnered 6 points.
There were tears of joy in the camp of Tolon SHS after the contestants, Zakaria Abdul-Rahim, Adam Mohammed Shefewu and Zakaria Iddrisu broke their school’s over 20-year jinx of not qualifying for the nationals.
Although the contest proved tough for all three schools, it was a breakthrough for the students and teachers of Tolon SHS in spite of limited learning materials.
Their trainer was fulfilled the students who barely understood concepts in science moved past their challenges to actualise their ambitions.
In the second contest of the day, the Northern School of Business secured the penultimate slot for the region.
They won the contest with 43 points beating Presbyterian SHS - Tamale and Sang Community Day School.
Meanwhile, Ghana Senior High School, Tamale has clutched the last available slot of the Northern regional qualifiers after beating Business SHS and Anbariya Senior High School.
