President Nana Akufo-Addo has sent warm messages to his party members reminding them that the outcome of every election in a democracy is either a win or a loss.
He said this to comfort them regarding Tuesday's by-election at the Assin North Constituency which unfortunately did not go in their favour.
“I urge members of my party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to keep their heads up, recognising that, in a democracy, there are winners and losers, and that we live to fight another day,” he said.
In a Facebook message, the President assured his members that the Assin North seat will soon be in the hands of the NPP because it has happened before.
“We once held the Assin North seat, and I am confident that, sooner rather than later, Assin North will be blue again,” he assured.
On June 27, candidates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) went to out battle for the Assin North seat.
The seat became vacant after the Supreme Court on Wednesday, May 17, unanimously declared unconstitutional the election of James Gyakye Quayson as the MP for the area.
The highly anticipated by-election was however necessitated after Parliament wrote to the Electoral Commission declaring the seat vacant.
