Turkish side Hatayspor, on Sunday, July 9, honoured late Ghana international Christian Atsu ahead of their friendly game against Hull City.
Hatayspor were only returning to the field for the first time in five months since Turkey was hit with a devastating earthquake which saw them lose two of their staff.
Atsu was a victim of an earthquake that occurred in February and went to rubble but was found and pronounced dead subsequently after several attempts to rescue him.Â
The incident happened a day after scoring a winner for his side in their game against Kasimpasa in the Super Lig on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Hatayspor returned to the pitch for the first time since the tragic event and engaged in a pre-season friendly against English side Hull City.
Ahead of the game, the Turkish club paid tribute to all lost souls in the unfortunate disaster which included the Ghanaian.
The club's manager Volkan Demirel led the tribute, lifting a jersey with the winger's name on it as the team lined up for the friendly.
