In most rural areas, young girls skip classes during their menstrual periods due to the unavailability of sanitary products.
Many of these young girls do not have the financial capacity to purchase these pads.
This birthed the idea for The Sanitary Project, an initiative by Anokyewaaba Adwoa Serwaa and her Anoba Foundation.

The team, through the benevolence of others, has donated sanitary pads to girls in the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly.
Team Lead for The Sanitary Project, Anokyewaaba Adwoa Serwaa shares why her team embarked on The Sanitary Project.
"Growing up as a Pupils Teacher in Dunkwa, it was commonplace to find young girls miss classes during the time of the month. So we solicited funds and added up to purchase these sanitary pads to alleviate the plight of these young girls."

She expressed her thanks to benevolent Ghanaians who helped her Foundation donate these pads to the young girls.
Headteachers of the beneficiary schools were excited by the gesture.
In all, five schools benefitted from the maiden edition of The Sanitary Project.

They are Amissah M.A Basic, Pokukrom M.A Meretweso M.A, Asikuma M.A and Kwameprekrom M.A Schools.
Anoba Foundation will replicate The Sanitary Project across the country in the coming months.
