The Old Boys Associations of Mfantsipim and Adisadel College, on Monday, August 7, launched the 2023 edition of the Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Day Games (MAFDG).
The annual event is geared towards bringing old boys of the two schools together on a friendly and social platform with sports identified as a platform to achieve the intended results.
The occasion also serves as an avenue for the products of the school to raise funds for the development of the two schools.
The MAFDG returns for the 16th edition this year after a five-year break.
This year’s event is slated for September 9 at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex in Burma Camp.
The theme for the programme is “Beyond the Rivalry: Uniting through Sports.”
The objectives will be to continue fostering healthy competition and promoting sportsmanship, renewing, building friendships, and creating networking opportunities as well as strengthening the bond between the two schools.
Speaking at the launch of this year’s event, Seth Dzordzorme, a co-chairman of the Planning Committee and an old student of Adisco called on corporate organisations to also add their support to the games.
"Part of the launch idea is to court corporate Ghana to get involved with helping to run the cost into the build-up of the games," to told Joy Sports.
"There is a lot of expense into it but we believe that as they sponsor they get a mileage out of the kind of calibre of people they are going to be meeting."
On his end, Kodwo Morgan, an old student of Mfantsipim added: "With the stress in this country, this is an opportunity for people to come and distress while having fun at the same time.
"When you come there, you should expect to have fun. We are doing this because we want to raise enough funds to support our schools."
Activities on the day will include tennis, 7-a-side football, basketball, golf, board games, jama session and health screening.
A football match between the current school teams of both Mfantsipim and Adisadel will climax the event.
To old boys and other people who are interested in the events, tickets are available for 50 cedis.
