The District Chief Executive of Sehwi Bodi in the Western North Region has cautioned residents in the district to avoid indiscriminate disposal of refuse.
According to Ignatius Akwasi Amankwah, the district assembly spends too much money to reclaim landfills.
Mr Amankwah lamented the development and urged residents fond of the action to desist.
He made this comment during the reclamation of the Sehwi Afere dump site by Zoomlion Ghana.
Speaking to Adom News, the DCE said a lot of property worth thousands of cedis have been destroyed by flood and the various diseases outbreak due to the indiscriminate refuse disposal.Â
He added the assembly could use the money for reclaiming landfills if the residents avoid disposing of waste anyhow.
Also, the Western North Regional Coordinator for ZoomLion, Isaac Banful said the reclamation of landfills exercise will eradicate some diseases and mosquitoes breeding in the community.Â
