Ghana winger, Ernest Nuamah, believes signing for French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyonnais, is the best for his development.
The 19-year-old joined Lyon on a season-long loan from Belgium’s RWD Molenbeek, the club he signed for on a permanent deal from Nordsjaelland.
He had to go through RWD Molenbeek, a club part of the Lyon owners’ group of clubs, because of financial issues.
Speaking to the club’s media, the Right to Dream graduate explained that he joined ‘The Kids’ because of their style of play.
“I think it was the right choice and a lot of clubs were interested in me,” Nuamah said.
“There was a lot of discussions but what was important was the best move for me and I feel like this is the best move for me.
“I still want to develop as a player and continue playing. I feel like Lyon is the best move.
“It is how the team is structured, and how well they play, and I feel like I will fit into the style of play in Lyon and the fact that they give a lot of playing time to young players.”
Ernest Nuamah has been at Nordsjaelland for 19 months, where he has the opportunity to work with Ghana legend, Michael Essien, whose career also really took off at Lyon.
However, Nuamah said he didn’t speak to the Chelsea legend much about joining Lyon.
“I didn’t really talk to him much about it but I know he played here, and he is also a legend from Ghana.
“He didn’t really play much part in it. The decision was from me and my team.”
