Ghanaian businessman Dr Daniel McKorley says he disagrees with people who say Ghana's football has deteriorated to a maximum low over the years.
Since the early 2000s, Ghanaian football clubs have struggled to make an impact in Africa while the quality of football displayed by the various clubs has been far from from convincing.
At the national team level, none of the teams has been able to chalk any major honours since the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations win in 2021, which came after the U-20 World Cup win in 2009.
There have been several setbacks in the last years with many describing Ghana's football as 'dead'.
However, Dr McKorley has a different opinion on those claims.
"Let's be careful not to get ahead of ourselves. I always believe you work with what you have and I also believe in leadership," the 52-year-old said on Monday at a Joy Thought Leadership seminar at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
"What is killing us in this country is leadership. Why would someone sponsor something? There must be an interest and how you see the future.
"I bet to differ, our football is not dead."
The Joy Sports and Joy Business Thought Leadership seminar was themed “Football Economy: Repurposing our approach to development, the Saudi Arabian experience”, bringing together experts to discuss how Ghana can leverage the Saudi Arabia example in developing its football industry.
