Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he has no idea the exact date Gabriel Jesus will return from injury.
The Brazil international missed yet another game as Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the 2023/24 Premier League season away against Newcastle United.
The Gunners conceded a controversial goal at St George’s Park on Saturday, handing the Magpies all three points in the fixture.
Jesus, since picking up a knock in the win over Sevilla, has missed games against Sheffield United and Newcastle with Eddie Nketiah taking his place.
Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, Arteta told the media he has no idea when the forward will return to the team.
“Nothing has changed. He [Smith Rowe] will be out for weeks. We have another training session so there is a possibility but I don’t know,” he said.
“I cannot guarantee that. I said it will be weeks,” he added on Jesus.
The double injury hit adds to Arsenal’s injury woes while summer signing Jurrien Timber suffered an awful knee injury on Premier League opening day which sees him out until next year. Newcastle, though, will be flying high at what will undoubtedly be a rocking St. James’ Park.
