The total volume of Ghana Interbank System (GIS) transactions at the end of December 2025 decreased to 1,247,975, from 1,334,492 in 2024.
According to the 2025 Payment Systems Oversight Annual Report, the total value of transactions increased to GH¢9.45 trillion from GH¢6.13 trillion over the same comparative period.
The average value per transaction also increased significantly by 64.7% to GH¢7,572,843 in 2025.
According to the Bank of Ghana, the strong performance of the GIS reflects heightened economic activity and greater participation by financial institutions on the platform.

The report added that the volumes of transactions of interbank cheques cleared declined by 265,641 in 2025.
This represented a 4.8% decline compared to a 0.2% decline in 2024.

The report added that although the total value of transactions of cheques increased as with previous years, the 2025 increase was a marginal one.
The total value of transactions of cheques increased to GH¢415.20 billion in 2025 from GH¢385.00 billion.
This represented a 7.9% increase compared to 31.0% increase in 2024.
