In a distinguished recognition of his exemplary contributions to academia, Prof. Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, has been appointed Emeritus Professor at the Department of Anatomy, University of Ghana Medical School, Korle Bu.
Prof. Tagoe's illustrious career has been marked by significant leadership roles, including his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana from October 2006 to July 2010. Before this, he served as Head of the Department of Anatomy, Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School, and Provost of the College of Health Sciences.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ghana and a PhD in Anatomy from the University of Leicester, UK, Prof. Tagoe has a rich academic background. His extensive experience includes work at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Coast Central Hospital. He has also held key positions in various universities globally, contributing to medical education and research.
Prof. Tagoe's involvement in shaping higher education extends beyond Ghana. He has presented papers on critical topics related to education and served on prestigious international bodies, including the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Administrative Board of the International Association of Universities.
In recognition of his outstanding service to higher education, the Government of Ghana honoured Prof. Tagoe in 2008 with the National Order of the Volta.
