Over 9,000 candidates who sat for the 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensing Examination (GTLE) have failed.
This was contained in a press release from the National Teaching Council (NTC) ahead of the release of the results on Thursday, December 21.
In total, 20181 candidates sat for the exam, of which 10625 candidates (52.6%) passed while 9556 candidates (47.4%) failed.
Meanwhile, candidates that trained for Primary and Junior High Schools performed better than the other levels.
The performances of candidates in elective subjects were relatively poorer.
Out of 63 subjects, 53 recorded 50% or more pass rate. 10 out of the 63 subjects also recorded pass rates of less than 50%.
Applied Electricity, Electronics and Physics recorded zero percent rates.
