The Fourth Session of the Eighth Parliament of Ghana's Fourth Republic is set to commence on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
This was after the house adjourned sine die, on Saturday, December 24, 2023 for the legislators to take a break for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
In his statement announcing the resumption of Parliament, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin said in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Clause (1) of article 112 f the constitution, he was “by this Constitutional Instrument, appoint Parliament House, Accra, to be the place, and Ten O’clock in the forenoon of Tuesday, 6th February 2024 to be the date and time which the Fourth Session of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall commence.”
The Third Meeting of the Third Session of the Eighth Parliament had ended after a marathon all-night sitting which saw the passing of the Appropriation Bill for the 2024 fiscal year.
The Speaker in his closing remarks to the house delivered by the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Owusu urged parliamentarians to be ambassadors of parliamentary democracy in their constituencies.
He admonished them to engage in local parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen the relationship between Parliament and citizens.
