Swedish Damallsvenskan side Djurgardens IF Women held a successful scouting programme in Ghana.

The three-day event in Accra, which commenced on April 2, concluded on Thursday with a game featuring a select side from five women's football clubs against Great Somas U-15 boys’ team.

At the end of an action-packed game, the female select side sealed a 1-0 win over the U-15 boys in what was described as a good test for them.

Organisers hailed the scouting program as a success, noting the valuable opportunities it created for the players and clubs involved.

Jean Balawo, who is the Sporting Director for Djurgadens IF Women's Team, spoke to Joy Sports.

"We need to thank all the clubs that released their players to be able to be here. It wasn't easy but the organisers were able to fix it," he said.

"When it comes to the level of playing, the players did a great job. They were able to show themselves and we were able to see what we wanted.

"But don't forget our league is top five in the world and the national team of Sweden is ranked among the top two so the step of going from Ghana directly to Sweden is very hard but we will see."

Balawo also hailed the talents in Ghana.

"There are a lot of good talents here as well," he continued.

"I told the players they need to keep working really hard...there are a lot of clubs and I saw a lot of good talents here in Ghana."

Following the program, a group of players are expected to travel to Sweden, to take the next steps needed to help continue their professional career as hinted by the team's sporting director and head of scouting.

Three players at the end of the final game were handed Djurgardens IF jerseys for the performance they displayed against Great Somas U-15 side.

The scouting programme was powered by GoldStar Consult with support from Jonina Football Academy, SISU Sports Management, and Young Apostles.

The Footballnetwork Sweden AB were also part of the organisers for the scouting programme.

Ghana Women's Premier League duo, Jonina Football Academy and Supreme Ladies were part of the teams invited for the tournament while the others include Gyagba Ladies, Efutukwa Ladies and Obiri Ladies.
