The Play and Learn Foundation celebrated the graduation of its second cohort from the Girl Empowerment Programme over the weekend, a significant milestone for the organization.
These young girls participated in the programme on a six-month journey of learning, growth, and empowerment.

Each month included a different subject, prompting thought-provoking debates on topics such as career development, reproductive health, girls in computing, and peer-to-peer empowerment, among others.
These seminars were not only informative, but also provided an opportunity for the girls to share their ambitions, concerns, and aspirations.

At the core of this programme was the mentorship offered by the "Big Sisters," dedicated adults who mentored and supported these young girls throughout their journey. Their dedication and enthusiasm helped shape these young grads' confidence and vision.
The graduation ceremony was a lively event - full of happiness, laughter, and a sense of achievement. There was a tangible thrill in the air as the girls approached to get their certificates, which showed their pride and resolve.

These young girls were also asked to briefly share some of the things they learnt.
“I learnt how to fix a sanitary pad and panty liner into my pants,” Tracy said about reproductive health.
Alice, also a participant, spoke about maintaining cleanliness in her surroundings, personal hygiene, and urged her colleagues to be clean at all times.

To honour the occasion, various games such as uno, musical chairs, storytelling, and riddles were organised, highlighting the event's joyful character. Delicious food was served, allowing everyone to unwind and enjoy the completion of a successful second cohort.
These recent graduates take with them not only the information they have acquired but also the conviction that they can change the world.
