The Josephine Gabriella Foundation, an NGO committed to young women’s empowerment, has donated hundreds of sanitary towels to the Manso Nkwanta Basic Schools in the Ashanti Region.
This is part of the commemoration of the World Menstrual Hygiene (WMH) Day.

The Foundation, founded by a young entrepreneur, Josephine Gabriella Adamah on Friday 31st May, donated to hundreds of girls between the ages of 11 to 18 within the district as part of its efforts towards this year’s theme, “End Period Stigma” for WMH day.
“Menstruation is a normal and healthy part of life for women. Yet, as normal as it is, menstruation is stigmatized around the world. We hope to change negative perceptions of menstruation and menstruating girls” said Mrs Adamah at the ceremony.

The Josephine Gabriella Foundation, has for the past four years, executed initiatives to better the lives of young women through various initiatives, chief amongst them being helping to improve menstrual hygiene.
Josephine recalls an unfortunate story she was told by her mother as a young girl, about girls some girls within her era who had to use unsanitary rags as menstrual pads or had to stay away from school completely during their menstrual cycles.

This she says stirred up a passion in her at a young age, causing her to purpose in her heart to contribute her quota to helping teenage girls stay in school and achieve their dreams by providing them with the necessary resources to manage their menstrual cycles.
“We are very happy. God bless you. Please don’t forget us when you go. Come back and visit us please” said 15-year-old Safia Mumuni who was a beneficiary of this year’s donations.

In 2023 last year, the Josephine Gabriella Foundation for its third charity project as well, visited the Somanya Methodist Basic Schools, donating sanitary pads to teenage girls, and educating them on menstrual hygiene.
The foundation over the years, has relied heavily upon the benevolence of philanthropists, as well as family and friends to fund her dream of uplifting the status of young ladies, especially those from marginalised parts of society through various development initiatives, community initiatives, participation and sensitisation.
