The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has held a regional town hall durbar in Ho on the Cylinder Re-circulation Model (CRM), aimed at improving LPG distribution across the country. The event featured key speakers including Obed Kraine Boachie, Head of Gas at NPA, and Godwin Yaw Konu, Volta Regional NPA Manager.
Addressing the gathering, Boachie elaborated on the CRM initiative, emphasizing its benefits in terms of safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. "The CRM is designed to provide consumers with prefilled LPG cylinders, reducing the average time and transportation costs associated with getting LPG. This system ensures consumers only pay for the gas content, not the cylinder, making LPG more accessible and affordable," he explained.
Godwin Yaw Konu highlighted the practical aspects of CRM and its impact on local communities. "Cylinder Exchange Points will be strategically placed closer to consumers, ensuring that even the most remote areas have easy access to LPG. This model not only guarantees safe and well-maintained cylinders but also aims to create direct jobs in the sector," Konu stated.

The town hall durbar also addressed frequently asked questions about the CRM, such as ownership and maintenance of cylinders, safety measures, and cost implications. Attendees were assured that the cylinders would be procured and maintained by Bottling Plant Companies, ensuring high safety standards and regular refurbishments.
The NPA's commitment to stakeholder sensitization and continuous engagement was reiterated, aiming to make LPG accessible to at least 50% of Ghanaians by 2030.

The event underscored the socio-economic benefits of the CRM, including job creation, improved public health, and reduced deforestation.
In closing, the NPA officials encouraged community members to embrace the CRM for a safer and more efficient LPG distribution system, enhancing the overall quality of life and economic prospects in the region.
