The Kusaug chief, Bawku Naba Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, is confident that his people will appreciate and reward the NDC flagbearer John Mahama for his significant contributions to national development.
In a speech given on his behalf, Bawku Naba lauded Mr Mahama for his generosity and visionary leadership.
“The numerous developmental projects that were initiated by the NDC under your leadership have left an indelible mark in Kusaug.
"It is my firm belief that the people of Kusaug will reward you adequately for your generosity and vision for our nation’s growth and prosperity,” he stated.
The Kusaug area encompasses the constituencies of Zebilla, Binduri, Bawku, Pusiga, Garu, and Tempane.
These remarks were made during a courtesy visit by the NDC flagbearer as he started his campaign tour of the Upper East region.
“I am humbled by your second visit to my palace and Kusaug within a short period,” Bawku Naba remarked.
“This is a clear manifestation of your humility and love for the entire people of Kusaug. I therefore wish to warmly welcome you and your entourage to Kusaug. Feel at home as you tour Kusaug to garner their support and votes for the December 7, elections.”
Bawku Naba also detailed specific development requests if Mahama is re-elected. He emphasized the need for infrastructure development in the kingdom, particularly the construction of a government hospital to act as a major referral centre.
He also called for the elevation of the Savanna Agriculture Research Center to a university for agricultural research to boost the agricultural sector and ensure national food security.
Additionally, Bawku Naba advocated for upgrading the Kusaug area to regional status to bring governance closer to the people and ensure a more equitable distribution of resources.
“This, we believe, will bring governance closer to the people, leading to a wider benefit of the national cake by all in Kusaug,” he said.
