The Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has expressed his belief that the future of Ghana lies with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, Dr Bawumia offers a better path for Ghanaians rather than "recycled" former president John Mahama.
Speaking ahead of the NPP's manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, Mr Atta Akyea asserted that the NPP has consistently introduced impactful policies, such as the Free SHS initiative, which he believes will continue to shape Ghana's future positively.
“After the manifesto launch we should all see that the future of this country is not with the recycled Mahama but with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
“Anything of consequence that will bankroll poverty always comes from the NPP. So you are going to see another level of serious issues and a blueprint that we will depend on so that we come out of the current economic difficulties,” he added.
Additionally, he criticized former President Mahama's proposal to offer free tuition for level 100 students, implying that the policy lacks the depth and foresight of the NPP’s initiatives.
"...You don’t have any sense of free SHS, it came from the NPP and that is a paradigm shift. It thrives to empower the nation for the next 20 years.”
He highlighted that the NPP manifesto would introduce critical ideas that would be instrumental in addressing the country's current economic challenges.
The former Works and Housing Minister also mentioned that digitalization would play a significant role in the new manifesto, adding that it would be a game changer.
