Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says outright payment for goods for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies will be a thing of the past if given the political mandate.
According to him, his government will lean towards leasing essential goods including vehicles, and printing equipment, among other items rather than making outright payments for these equipment.
He explained that this approach will save the government the cost of maintaining these equipment.

“My government will move towards leasing rather than outright purchase of goods such as vehicles, printing equipment, etc. The private sector will have the responsibility for maintaining the equipment,” he said.
He made these comments at the NPP Manifesto launch on August 18.
The flagbearer stressed that with this approach, the budget can save very significant outright cash expenditure annually from various items across different state institutions.
Also, he said this would energise the private sector to invest in their expansion and create many more jobs.
Dr Bawumia also his government would collaborate with private-sector players on various fronts.
That is, his government would encourage the private sector to take greater responsibility in the provision and management of critical infrastructures, including building hostels, housing and schools for government to rent or lease to own.
This, he believes will complement government in the provision and management of many infrastructures and other public services.
